Auto Pay

What is auto-pay?

Auto-pay is a convenient payment method that automatically charges your chatr plan fee to your credit card, Visa debit or Debit Mastercard each month. Plus, you can receive bonus offers for activating an auto-pay plan.

 
How do I enroll in auto-pay?

If you are new customer, you can activate a chatr auto-pay plan to automatically enroll in auto-pay.

If you are an existing chatr customer, you can enroll in auto-pay by selecting the “Enroll in auto-pay” link in the auto-pay box available in My chatr at any time.

 
Does chatr accept international credit cards?

Yes! chatr accepts both autopay and one-time credit card payments using international credit cards.

You can pay with Visa®, Visa® Debit, MasterCard®, MasterCard® Debit or American Express. Credit cards from countries subject to trade sanctions may not be accepted for payment.

 
How can I receive the auto-pay bonus?

You will automatically receive your auto-pay bonus when you activate an auto-pay plan. Your bonus will be applied to your account within 48 hours of your anniversary date when a payment is taken.

If you are already a chatr customer, you will receive your auto-pay bonus on your next anniversary date after you enroll in auto-pay.

Will my auto-pay bonus carry over month to month?

Your auto-pay data bonus offer has a duration of one month. You are eligible for the bonus offer as long as you are enrolled in auto-pay.

 
I'm already enrolled in auto-pay. How can I get the bonus?

If you are enrolled in auto-pay, you can view and select the offer available for your plan by clicking the “Change auto-pay offer” link in the auto-pay box available in My chatr.

 
Can I add extra money each month?

Yes, you can easily add extra money to your chatr account when enrolled in auto-pay. This extra money can cover features not included in your plan like international long distance.

 
How can I change my credit card on file?

You can easily update your credit card information or add a new credit card, Visa debit or Debit Mastercard on My chatr at any time. Click the “Manage credit cards” link in the auto-pay box and follow the simple steps.

 
What credit cards can I use for auto-pay?

We accept multiple credit cards when enrolling in auto-pay including Visa®, Visa® Debit, MasterCard®, MasterCard® Debit or American Express.

 

Topping up your account

How can I add money or top up my account?

There are many convenient ways to top up your account. To pay your monthly plan fee and any chatr pay-per-use charges, you can use the following methods of payment:

  1. Enroll in auto-pay using your credit card, Visa Debit or Debit Mastercard. This preauthorized payment service uses automatic payments, so you never have to worry about topping up your account.
  2. Use a credit card, Visa Debit or Debit Mastercard to make a one-time payment
  3. Purchase a chatr top-up card from a chatr retail location.

Once you choose your method of payment you can top up free of charge in the following ways:

  • Sign in to My chatr to enroll in auto-pay, make a one-time credit card or Visa/Mastercard payment, or enter the PIN number from a chatr top-up card.

Please note calls to customer care may incur service charges for top-up related inquiries.

 
Where can I buy a chatr top-up card?

In addition to chatr stores there are over 10,000 essential retail businesses across Canada where you can purchase chatr top-up cards, including:

Grocery Stores:
Loblaws, Provigo, Maxi, Sobeys, IGA, Super C, Metro, Walmart, No Frills, Real Canadian Superstore, Food Basics, Fresh Co, Fortinos, Zehrs, Safeway, Adonis

Drug Stores:
Shoppers Drug Mart, Pharmaprix, Jean Coutu, Uniprix, Proxim, PharmaChoice, Familiprix, Brunet

Gas Stations:
Esso, Petro-Canada, Shell, Husky, Pioneer, Canadian Tire Gas+, Ultramar, Groupe Harnois, Chevron, Provi-Soir, MacEwen, Mobil

Does chatr accept international credit cards?

Yes! chatr accepts both autopay and one-time credit card payments using international credit cards.

You can pay with Visa®, Visa® Debit, MasterCard®, MasterCard® Debit or American Express. Credit cards from countries subject to trade sanctions may not be accepted for payment.

How can I pay with Credit Card, Visa Debit or Debit Mastercard?

The easiest way to top up your account using a credit card, visa debit or debit mastercard is through the My chatr app.

  1. Sign in to My chatr
  2. Click ‘manage payments’
  3. You have the option of a one-time credit card payment or to enroll in Auto-pay
  4. Here you will also have the option to save your card on file so you can take advantage of topping-up through text message.
What are the payment methods I can use on my chatr account?

To pay your monthly plan fee and any chatr pay-per-use charges, you can use the following methods of payment:

  • Auto-pay: Sign up with auto-pay using using your credit card, Visa Debit or Debit Mastercard. This preauthorized payment service uses automatic payments, so you never have to worry about topping up your account.
  • Top-Ups: Top up your account every month using a credit card, Visa Debit, Debit Mastercard or buying a chatr top-up card from a chatr retail location. chatr top-up cards are available in $5, $10, $25, $40 and $50 denominations.
 
How can I add or change my credit card on file?

You can update, add or remove your card information easily through the my chatr app or online.

  • Sign-in to My chatr online here

Not yet registered? Complete your profile here.

Select ‘account’ and then ‘manage payments’. From there, you can remove, add or update any credit cards on file. Please note if you are on auto-pay you do require one credit card on file to make your monthly payment.

What happens if I forget to top up my chatr account on my anniversary date?

If you miss your anniversary date, your mobile phone service and account balance will be put on hold and you won’t be able to use your plan. Once you’ve made the monthly payment, you will be able to use your chatr plan.

Please note: the date of your payment will become your new anniversary date.

 

Day Pass

What is DAY PASS?

DAY PASS is a flexible daily-payment option, available only from chatr. If you are unable to make your full monthly top-up on your anniversary date, DAY PASS will help you stay connected. You’ll have continued access to talk, text and data for a small daily fee. Continue to use DAY PASS until you are ready to make your full monthly top-up.

 
How to enroll in DAY PASS?

Enrolling in DAY PASS is easy. You’ll get a text from chatr the day before your anniversary date. Reply ENROLL. If you don’t hear from us, you can also text BEGIN to 4962.

 
How does DAY PASS work?

Once enrolled in DAY PASS, a small daily fee will be deducted from your account, which allows you to keep using talk, text and data for the remainder of the day. As long as there is enough in your account balance for DAY PASS, you’ll stay connected.

 
What features do I get with DAY PASS?

If you currently have a talk & text plan, you’ll be charged $2/day for access to Unlimited Canada-wide Talk & International Text. If you have a talk, text and data plan, you will be charged $3/day for access to Unlimited Canada-wide Talk & International Text and 250MB of data. Once you have used your data allowance, you can use data at a reduced speed until the end of the day.

How do I unenroll from DAY PASS?

There are two simple ways to unenroll from DAY PASS:

  1. Make your full monthly top-up payment and you’ll be automatically unenrolled. The day you make the payment will become your new anniversary date.
  2. Text BREAK to 4962.
 
What features are not included in DAY PASS?

Once enrolled in DAY PASS you will not have access to the following features:

  • US and International roaming
  • US and International calling
  • Data Plus
  • Auto-pay bonus
